Outchurched Podcast 2.003 - “Christian ______ (fill-in-the-blank)”

by: Rev. Dan

I’m late posting the Sunday Service, but when you stop to think about it, it’s bound to be Sunday somewhere in the world… and if it’s not… well… if you have enough faith it eventually will be. ;)

The overall topic of this podcast is “Christian ____ (fill-in-the-blank),” and is a discussion between Grasty, Astley, and Rev. Dan. We’re checking out Gizmo’s built-in recording, and for the most part it seems like a keeper. It’s certainly easier than the method we were using before.

Special thanks are in order to Zeke from Godscrum who was our third official guest (I count JP and NJ as one guest…) on the Outchurched we tried recording this past weekend. Unfortunately, the recording on my end wasn’t good, so hopefully we’ll get a chance to have him back on sometime soon. :)

Because this one is a bit late, I’m going to post the Midweek Service on Thursday.

Just to redeem myself, I did throw away one Album… “Meatloaf: Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell”. So I’m not as big a loser as I think I am.

I didn’t throw mine away, I just boxed them up and then broke them back out again when I had gotten fed up with DC Talk and Audio Adrenaline. Both of whom I will still listen to, I just dropped the pretense that Christian music was beneficial and secular music not.

Thanks!

To get rid of the dichotomy of christian vs. non-christian was one of the things I enjoyed the most when I got out of the church. To not longer categorize everything into christian and non-christian music, christian and non-christian friends and so forth.

There’s only one world and there are good things and trash all over.

Hey guys, great post! I would like to clarify one teeny, tiny thing you mentioned: the song Rich Mullins didn’t write the chorus to was “Step by Step.,” not “Awesome God.” That was written by his friend and fellow Ragamuffin, Beaker. He wrote verses to it (so that he could admittedly get a writing credit) and that version is called “Sometimes by Step.” Step by Step appears on The World as Best as I Remember It vol. 1, and Sometimes by Step appears on The World as Best as I Remember It vol. 2.

Rich wrote “Awesome God” on his own.

That’s all. I really like your podcasts, they’re freakin’ hilarious. I must share the one about men’s groups with my husband; he’ll get a kick out of it.

Are you sure? I could have sworn that he told that story about “Awesome God.” Maybe I’m confusing it with the medley version that, omg, I used to play at church. Frightening.

You, like most nuns, frighten me.

Also, for you future amusement, we’ll be discussing masturbation and sexuality soon. Wanna join us?

I’m not a huge fan of Rich Mullins, but he was the real deal.

And I think Ninjanun may be the first chick to post on Outchurched. That so, Dan?

There have been no chickens, of any age, on Outchurched… podcast or blog.

Hot babes aplenty, though.

I still like Keith Green for some reason too. :)

Zeke-
I don’t think so, I’m sure there have been others, but I don’t have time to look through everything.
