Preach It, Tom!
by: Rev. DanTom Lyberg of the Wired Jesus Podcast/blog posted a concise, right-on commentary about a Comic Book Jesus (see his blog for the images and whatnot).
It’s just crazy when people don’t understand the power of myth and literally turn Jesus in[to] a comic book character. [S]ome folks just don’t get anything past the third grade.
I like to rib him for his use (overuse?) of the “Postmodern” label (we’re post-pomo, bro!), but he’s among the few inchurched in InternetLand who seem to “get it” or are at least willing to try to communicate something above/beyond “here’s crap that I believe, and if you don’t follow my interpretation of things, you’re going to burn for eternity.”
I appreciate folks like Tom who are willing to use their heads for something besides a hat rack, and are willing to ACT like Jesus instead of trying to throw around authority in his name. It’s possible to have a conversation of value with someone like Mr. Lyberg, quite unlike the several Jackasses for Jesus who have been attempting to start absurd discussions here in the comments.
Cheers, Mr. Lyberg, I’m looking forward to your next podcast. :)
Hmmm. Post-pomo. Maybe like John O’Keefe suggests over at ginkworld, we have become metrospirituals. :)
Thanks for the kudos. I try.
The next podcast is up and another this week.
