Vatican Exorcist Says Hitler and Stalin (and Basically All of Germany/Italy) Were Possessed by the Devil (aka “Satan Has Superpowers”)
by: Rev. DanAccording to a spiritual snake oil salesman exocism expert at the Vatican, Satan has superpowers that no other angel or being has, even Jesus. Check out the following:
Father Gabriele Amorth who is Pope Benedict XVI’s ‘caster out of demons’ made [interesting] comments during an interview with Vatican Radio.
Father Amorth said: “Of course the Devil exists and he can not only possess a single person but also groups and entire populations.
(emphasis added)
Now, that’s some badass power. Jesus couldn’t do stuff like that… he never possessed anybody, let alone gropus and entire populations. If you had the ability to possess entire populations, wouldn’t that suggest that you were omnipresent? Jesus was only in one place at a time… score one for Satan.
“I am convinced that the Nazis were all possessed. All you have to do is think about what Hitler - and Stalin did. Almost certainly they were possessed by the Devil.
“You can tell by their behaviour and their actions, from the horrors they committed and the atrocities that were committed on their orders. That’s why we need to defend society from demons.”
What if I think about what George W. Bush has done and is doing? Is the assertion then that George W. Bush is possessed by a demon? Again, this would appear to be another victory for Satan. Satan is active and present in the world, Jesus is just comin’ back some day.
Can you guys at the Vatican do us a favor and remove Satan and his homeboys from our President?
According to secret Vatican documents recently released wartime pontiff Pope Pius XII attempted a “long distance” exorcism of Hitler which failed to have any effect.
Father Amorth said: “It’s very rare that praying and attempting to carry out an exorcism from distance works.” … “One of the key requirements for an exorcism is to be present in front of the possessed person and that person also has to be consenting and willing.”
Well, bummer, looks like we’re on our own for now.
In the past Father Amorth has also spoken out against the Harry Potter books, claiming that reading the novels of the teen wizard open children’s minds to dabbling with the occult and black magic.
Father Amorth, who is president of the International Association of Exorcists, said of the JK Rowling books:”Behind Harry Potter hides the signature of the king of the darkness, the devil.”
He said that Rowling’s books contain innumerable positive references to magic, “the satanic art” and added the books attempt to make a false distinction between black and white magic, when in fact, the distinction “does not exist, because magic is always a turn to the devil.”
Father Amorth is said to have carried out more than 30,000 exorcisms in his career and his favourite film is, according to Italian newspapers The Exorcist.
Oh, I guess I get it now… Satan doesn’t really have superpowers that put Jesus to shame. Perhaps somebody can cast the stupidity out of Father Amorth.
Good quotes from the article’s comments:
Oh great, another magical thinking explanation for murderous behavior. We in the Reality Based World know that both Hitler and Stalin were psychopaths and murderous criminals.
The next thing you know the Catholic Church will be telling us that the Earth is the center of the solar system and evolution is a fiction.
And…
If the Devil can make a man like Stalin order the deaths of 20,000,000 people, why can’t God stop him?
Actually… it’s not because God can’t stop Satan… it’s that God won’t stop Satan. Turmoil, murder, chaos… they’re all part of God’s plan, and Satan, the “defeated foe,” is only just a created being doing what God made him to do.
What a bunch of Crap…
“You can tell by their behaviour and their actions, from the horrors they committed and the atrocities that were committed on their orders. That’s why we need to defend society from demons.”
So based on the atrocities committed by the Catholic Church throughout history, we can tell that they were (are?) possesed by demons? Is that right?
Concerning the Harry Potter books, I’m not a fan; but, what about all of the magical thinking that the Catholic church espouses? Transsubstantiation seems awfully magical to me…Is this another one of Satan’s tricks?
>So based on the atrocities committed by the Catholic Church throughout
> history, we can tell that they were (are?) possesed by demons? Is that right?
Danger, Danger! You’re attempting to use logic and reason and apply it to matters of faith. We’ll be coming to round you up for exorcism in just a few minutes. Stay put… we’re on our way.
Confusing. Benedict was a Nazi youth. Stalin went to seminary five years. Hitler was Catholic and so much more. The abnegation of responsiblity (for “the Church”–uh, aren’t there others?–) to connect its teachings to the production of fascism is as bizarre as the “devil made our church-friends do it.” Catholics want to distance themselves with their killers—but only after they get caught. No Catholic seems to care about Benedict’s history, or how furious people got (reasonably) about John-Paul’s actions. When I’ve tried to speak with Catholics directly, they have to me only spouted double-speak and excuses. America is slowly becoming a more Catholic country demographically. Is this connected to the press about our constant loss of civil liberties, and the many rights for which non-Catholic (even anti-Catholic) activists tried to fight (when they wrote the constitution, trying to make it so that the Pope couldn’t continue killing us, the people of other thoughts and religions). It’s hard for many to think (because they’re nice people), but if you believe in missions, (through your reading of scripture), and right to proselytize, as Catholics do, can they really be Ameircans? They will simply point the finger elsewhere (and say “well other people have missions, too”) rather than deal with the questions of their own religion. Why do they hold so fast to somethign that makes fascists, killers and Nazis, over and over and over again? I really don’t get it. Then…one told me, “Well it must be right because a lot of people loved John-Paul.” Their own Bible says lots of folks love “The Beast,” too. So, what of that? And yes, so much magical thinking?
Woo-woo!
