Jay Bakker, the only son of TV evangelists Jim Bakker and Tammy Faye Messner, is the subject of this six-part observational documentary series from filmmaker Jeremy Simmons (“TransGeneration”). Veteran of a troubled adolescence, tattooed and pierced Jay now preaches God’s grace and unconditional love to an alternative non-denominational congregation in Atlanta, which meets in a working bar.

Me too. I’ve been following Jay Bakker (somewhat) for a little over a year. If he was in my town, I think I’d hang with him, but I’m too much of a pussy to get that many things pierced.

Surprisingly, the standout comment from that clip came from Mark Lowry: “If it’s all in how you look, how are blind people going to hate the same people you do?”

Sweet. Except now I’m going to have try and figure out if the Sundance Channel is hidden somewhere in those 8 billion Comcast channels I’ve got.
