Ze Frank’s “Religion Games”

June 24th, 2008, by: Rev. DanTommy Womack’s “There, I Said It” has been an anthemic album for me the past year. Womack tours with Todd Snider, one of my other idols/heroes, and I was first introduced to Womack’s music when he played “Nice Day” during Snider’s set at the KPIG Memorial Concert for Laura Ellen Hopper.
From TommyWomack.com:
I have two "hobbies". Firstly, I like to keep read about, and speculate on, the Historical Jesus, the real guy, who he really was, what he really said, etc. reading stuff by J.D. Crossan, A. N. Wilson and John Shelby Spong regarding such. That's because I spent the first twenty-odd years of my life so deep in the Bible belt I didn't even know there was one. Jesus was on every wall of my house and oftentimes twice. I don't live much like that now, but needless to say it leaves its residual notions to be worked through in one's mind. If you'd like my primary messiah pondering, click here [link = no worky-worky]. Otherwise, I'll trouble you no further with it.
Secondly, I boast a reasonably well-honed facility for classic-era New York Mafia Geneology: the Gambinos, the Genoveses, the Bonannos, the Lucheeses and the Columbos…
Obviously my kind of guy…
“There I’ve Said It” is in my personal Pantheon of Awesome Albums.

McCain Needs to Read the Constitution
June 8th, 2008, by: Rev. DanIf you had any doubt as to whether John McCain has gone off the deep end, then hopefully this will remove that doubt:
How does a person who is a War Hero, Senator, Patriot, and Presidential Candidate completely forget what the Constitution he’s fought and sworn to protect says?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Why is Senator McCain essentially arguing for the establishment of a national religion and seeming to suggest that a national religion has already been founded?
Instead of eating hot dogs with the Dubya maybe Senator McCain should take an introductory Civics class.
All Kinds of Stupid
June 4th, 2008, by: Rev. DanA University of Virginia graduate student is hard at work on a game that gives players a chance to “stop the spread of Christianity and Islam by murdering Abraham and the authors of the Bible, before beheading Muhammad,” reports Virginia’s WSLS television news.
While the report lacks crucial details — the name of the title or its creator, for instance — it does provide a phone interview with the man explaining his motivation for tackling such a controversial subject:
Atheists have never really had anything to speak for them like this. It’s the general atheist premise that the world might be a better place without some of those religions… It’s the idea of being able to go back in time and sort of nipping the problem in the bud.
What a stupid asshole. Oh wait… free press for something that will likely be a really lame-ass game with a tragically-wrong premise. What a mega-stupid asshole with good marketing skills.
